Rock Database server software Option

Is MSSQL the only/mandatory option when it comes to hosting the ROCK Database? or Can I choose to use MYSQL instead.

In short, no, there are several MSSQL-specific things that Rock relies on. MySQL syntax is just different enough to cause problems with Rock's ORM. In addition geospatial support isn't as robust.
