"Resource cannot be found HTTP 404" error at very start of Rock Install

<< Note, posting this question in Parts as having difficulty with the posting process >>

(on Windows Server 2012 R2 Essentials)

Encountered this error almost immediately after pointing the Firefox browser to http://localhost/Start.aspx

NOTE: This is the consistent error result I get when I install Rock on Windows Server 2012 R2 Essentials. No such problems if I use Windows Server 2012 Standard (not 2012 R2; not Essentials)

    Continuation of error description below

Hi Jim, following your suggestion, I checked for the Physical Path of the Default Web Site in the IIS Manager and found the following

Change Physical path of default web site.PNG

The Rock Install can now run after I changed the Physical Path to C:\inetpub\wwwroot.

    Thanks for your help Jim.

Great, glad it was something simple. I guess Windows Essentials has a different default document root for who-knows-what reason. Good catch!

    Error with 2012R2 Essentials.PNG

The IIS log file is as follows:

    IIS Log file.PNG

Seems to me that the 404 error occured for GET /favicon.ico, which is part of the Start.aspx file contents

    Finding Favicon.PNG

    u_ex160531.log

I tried to attach the log file (u_ex160531.log) but the link does not seems to be working. Apologies

Are you sure your file is in the right document root?  If you put a file called default.htm with the contents "Hello" in your document root, can your browse to http://localhost/default.htm successfully?

      Hi Jim,
You are correct. I am getting the same kind of error even with the default.htm Hello file. 404 error with favicon.ico file. Put the htm file in the folder C:\inetpub\wwwroot\

What is wrong with my setup?
