Rock RMS + Church Social Networking System (e.g. OneBody, etc)

SOMEONE SAID: "Members can't see other people's profiles by default, but all of that is configurable within the CMS and with permissions, so you could set it up however you want."

MY OWN QUESTION: Since Rock is also a ChMS (Church Management System), can it be integrated with OneBody (a church social networking and online directory software) or any other? If yes, any plugin or how?

Please what are the things or features or whatever that members with accounts on Rock can see and do?

Please if members make online giving or any form of payments, will they be able to see every details or history of the payments they have made on their own account on Rock?

If Rock is installed for the first time, can members be asked to register for an account by themselves on Rock or is this done through the first setting up of the CMS in Rock or is the CMS already set?

Is there anyone that can handle custom development should the church requires certain features that are not already available on Rock?

Greetings,
Please is Rock RMS configurable for members to send messages or private messages to each other? Is there any form of communication (such as discussion forum) possible between members in Rock RMS? Or is this kind of Rock's Ask discussion forum that I used in asking this question possible in Rock RMS?

Not without some custom development - these forums are indeed run on Rock, but I believe it uses some custom, unpublished blocks to do so. All communication within Rock is designed to use another transport- usually SMS (text messaging) or SMTP (e-mail), rather than being a communication endpoint itself.

Frank,

With the caveat that Rock is infinitely customizable and therefore it's POSSIBLE to get it to do ANYTHING (though some things would require that you can code it or hire someone to do so), let me answer these questions from the perspective of how Rock is designed to work out of the box.

I'm not aware of any integrations with OneBody presently, but if others are interested, you may see this end up on a developer's to-do list for plugins ( http://www.rockrms.com/CommunityProjects )

If someone in your Rock database has a login account to Rock, you can put them in security groups like "RSR - Staff User" to allow them to see the "Internal Site" where the External Site can be configured, other user's information can be viewed, financial transactions can be managed, etc. On the "External Site" (such as www.rocksolidchurchdemo.com ), they can have access to their giving profile/settings (recurring donations, pledges, and contribution history) or contribute online (which needs a little extra configuration from you to set up your financial providers). See http://www.rockrms.com/Rock/BookContent/14/82 for information on how to create and customize other pages and functions for people who are logged in.

Small Group leaders will also have access to the "Group Toolbox" where they can add members, record attendance, and a few other group-specific functions. Check out http://www.rockrms.com/Rock/BookContent/7/75 (and especially the Group Leader Toolbox section) for more information on these tools.

Having people logged in also potentially allows you to customize which articles/announcements they see, based on their data (though that also takes a little more setup by you, see the "websites" manual linked to above). You can also allow them to view and edit some of their own information to keep their contact information up-to-date for you.

You will usually add all of your people's profiles yourself into Rock. You CAN create logins for each person yourself as well, but it's certainly easier to have people register themselves. Rock does a good job of matching up registrations with existing person profiles when they do so. If you set it up, they can use their Facebook or Google accounts as logins as well so they don't have "yet another" login to keep track of. See the "Person and Family" manual linked to above for more information on logins.

There are many developers who have taken on projects for single churches, you can either post a specific request here or jump into the Slack channel and start asking around.

I hope that helps! I really recommend reading the manuals for a really good overview of using Rock- start with "Planning for Rock" and then don't miss "Rock Admin Hero Guide" and "Person and Family Field Manual" and "Rock your Groups" for the basics. Then you can move onto more specific manuals depending on your needs.
