Where are new Family Attributes entered or maintained?

The number of default Family Attributes in Rock is limited.  It is likely that data imports from other systems will be bringing in different sets of unique family attributes.  Unique family attributes might include things like: Neighbourhood Zone, Marketing Campaign, Family Exit Reason, Family Exit Destination, Family Exit Date.

It is my understanding that these unique Family attributes can be added on the Group Type Detail page for the Family group (Admin Tools/General Settings/Group Types/Family), by expanding the Member Attributes section and adding the new attributes.

But once these attributes have been added - where can they be entered or maintained?  Add Family doesn't display the fields, nor does Edit Family.  I guess the answer has something to do with adding a new Zone?

The family group type is a system group type, and until very recently they were locked down and were not editable.  They were either "unlocked" just before the beta was released or right after, I don't remember off the top of my head.  Anyways, it looks like the add and edit family blocks do not look at the Member Attributes (attributes on each individual member of a group) or the Group Attributes (attribute values on the group itself). Functionality would need to be created to support this either as new blocks or as updates to the existing blocks to support editing the group/group member attributes from the add/edit page.

I would consider this a feature request, as opposed to a bug.  If you could, please submit a feature request at https://www.rockrms.com/Rock/Ideas and it will get forwarded on to the core development team.

As a work around for now, you could create a group viewer that looks at family groups and edit the attributes from there.  Not the best solution, especially when you have a lot of families but would allow you to use family group attributes.  The best solution, at least for now, would probably be person attributes.

Thanks Chris. We've found there are some attributes that it only makes sense to maintain at the Family level. Will request this, and look into using the group viewer.

Chris - can you step me through how to do that? Thanks, Ken.

Can't see how to do this: the Family Group is not a group available in the group viewer that I can see.
