Don - google "What's happening with Arvixe.com" or "is arvixe.com down" and read the reviews.  Move to another provider.  My site has been down for three weeks.  No explanation.  Now no response to any form of contact.  Luckily I am still able to access my backend where my database and web site files are.  I hope you can.

Ken, that is horrible! Yes I can still access everything via FTP, Arvixe CP, and SQL Management Studio. Luckily our website is up. We just can't make any changes. I am researching new hosting providers now. Hostwinds, is at the top of my list as of right now. I hope I can get the migration to work, as I have already had to rebuild my site from scratch once.

3 essentials is one of the Rock rms recommended providers. I have used them before and they are great.

I've helped a few churches setup on 3E and am very pleased with their .net cloud servers. The only long-term hesitation I have with them is related to PCI compliance. I've been able to pass the PCI Scans, but myself (and others) see the day coming when having SQL and Web Server in one box will not pass. If you're not taking credit cards via Payflow Pro (or any other API/non-redirected method), this is not a concern.

    • Trey Hendon III

Correct. Also, there is currently the concern about TLS 1.0's EOL on the horizon and how/if SQL Server will work with TLS 1.0 disabled.

    • Trey Hendon III

Additional follow-up. Turns out that with SQL 2012 CU6 and .Net 4.6, TLS 1.0 can successfully be turned off on servers which run IIS and SQL. This is exciting news for sites which do not need PCI Compliance that still would like to keep costs down.

Thanks Trey. Appreciate the heads up about PCI compliance. Not an issue for us yet, but will be in the future. A 'Rock PCI Tutorial' somewhere at some stage would be helpful.

If you fancy doing that then drop me a line at arranf@gmail.com. It's the kind of thing we'd like to see :)

Hey Ken, Just wanted to let you know I'm working on a series of articles for Shoulder the Boulder related to SSL and PCI. Hope to start having those flow out in the next few weeks.

Is SSL turned off on the account or possibly an expired certificate?

    • Don Smallman

If there is a place in the Arvixe CP to turn that on or off, I can not find it. The Cert is good till 2016.

This should answer the questions about the hosting issues: https://support.arvixe.com/index.php?/News/NewsItem/View/172/thank-you-for-your-patience Apparently they are "training new staff"

    • Don Smallman

Yeah, I did see that. However, I am not sure that explains this level of poor service. As Ken mentioned above, we cannot get in touch with them... Period! I have called several times, and waited on hold for a total of a few hours. I have emailed, no response. I have created a ticket, no response. I have waited on chat, and was not able to get anyone. When I was actually able to speak to someone, I was able to describe my issue and was disconnected.. no call back. As a Christian, I feel compelled to pray for them, but I must move to another provider, quickly.

This is something everyone should read, before considering Arvixe: http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2462052,00.asp

It seems like you've decided to move on from Arvixe so I'll mark this as answered
