Mail Merging a Couple

When a married couple in mail merged into a word document - we are seeing that it is inconstant on who is listed first. Sometimes the male adult is listed first, other times the female adult is listed first. Any thoughts on how Rock decides who should be listed first?

Hi Austin,

I'm reasonably certain that the list is ordered by Age, which can sometimes produces a "non-traditional" sequencing of family members where the older female spouse is listed before a younger male spouse.

If you would like to see this behavior changed, my suggestion would be to enter it into the Black Book here:

I am adding a new field called "Order within Family" as a Person attribute under Extended Attributes. This field will help me order the members within a family for Mail merge, Phone directories, etc. Sort family members by (a) Order within Family, (b) Date of Birth, (c) Gender (descending). This way, we can use "Order within Family" to override the way the system orders families.
