SQL 2016

The link in your self hosting install instructions takes you to SQL 2016, however the directions are for SQL 2012. Can we get a good link to SQL 2012 and what version to choose (basic, adv, etc), or updated directions for SQL 2016.

All references above are referring to he free express version.

Looks like Microsoft is re-directing the previous like to MS SQL 2012 to 2016. Here is a link to 2012. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=29062

In terms of versions any of them will work. Advanced has a few more features like Reporting Services. None of these features are required by Rock though. You can run Rock on 2016, the install process is nearly identical to that of 2012 so those instructions should serve you well.

Just to chime in that I did the install using a 2016 version of SQL server over the weekend and the instructions are almost identical, I don't think there's a need for updated instructions for SQL Server 2016 aside from maybe a note to mention they're pretty similar.
