Install hangs up

I am trying to install this. It says I have all the right versions of everything on my server. It never gets passed the following step...

Step 3: Creating Database

Preparing to run sql-install.sql

I have let it sit overnight and it still at this step. How can I get passed this? Thanks in advance.

I installed locally and got it to work. My host said I can just restore the db and files once I have it how I want it. Thanks for the info and help.

It could either be a memory issue or a bad installer. Try re-downloading the rock install zip file and see if that helps.  I was having this issue the other day and that solved it.

    I'll give it a try.

I appear to be hung up at the exact same place after redownloading the install file and replacing the start.aspx on my server.

Do you have any sort of firewall or content filter between your host and the Rockrms site? We saw that behavior with a SonicWall doing content filtering (it apparently thought  the contents of the install zip we’re “scary”).

The fix was to bypass content filtering for the new Rock host, and Rock was able to install just fine.

I don't see anything like that.

You don't "See" anything like that? Not sure what that means. Are you self hosting Rock, or hosting it in the cloud? If so, where?

    my host is smarterasp.net

i've looked through all the setting and I don't see anything that relates to content filtering.

Ok, I'm not familiar with that hosting company. It's possible that they are not capable of running Rock.. what plan specifically are you on?

I don't see any reason this host would be incapable of running Rock. I'm on this plan. It's .net, it's mssql.

    Pass!

Your environment passed all tests and looks like a good home for the Rock RMS. What are we waiting for? Let's get started!!!

You have the correct version of .Net (4.5.1+).

Your server's file permissions look correct.

Your webserver is configured for Full-Trust.

Your IIS version is correct. You have version 8.5.

Your database settings all look good.

    Website is empty.

Ok, I ran the sql myself and it finished, what's the next step? The installer is still hung up.

Nevermind. That blew up the entire website. I deleted it all. I will try again from scratch.

We used to use smarterasp.net and had tons of issues with them. Their servers are not configured well for advanced platforms like Rock. They suspended our site several times saying rock used too many resources. I would recommend one of the partner hosting services or a2hosting.com who we have used for over a year without any issues.

I'm a developer trying to add functionality to Rock RMS for a client. I just want it to install. I'm plenty happy with smarterasp.net for my needs. I've used them for 5 years without any issues.

I am using the Winhost Ultimate plan and I am having the same issue. Any suggestions? Thanks

Is there a test I can run to ensure that the system is running correctly and that I am not missing files/folders?

    Thanks

    Background:

I tried installing again and ran into the same issue. The installation was stuck on setting up the database/running the SQL file. I left the computer on overnight and the progress bar/console did not change. What I noticed was that the files in my root directory were different. I decided to run Complete.aspx and it seems like the installation was completed. I can now login and make changes via the admin panel. I am wondering if my installation may still be broken.
