Contribution side data entry

We switched to using ROCK for all our contribution data as of 1/1/15 and I am finding the data entry very time consuming-to the point that I think I must be doing something wrong.  We have data entry from:

-weekend offerings which we scan into the system with a check scanner and then match transactions

-online giving which I have to enter in manually as I am told we can't import an excel or cvs file

Both ways are seeming very time consuming and not data-entry freindly at all.

Is anyone else using the contribution side that would be willing to chat with me and see if I'm missing some shortcuts and tricks to speed things up?

Thanks

We added some keyboard shortcuts and entry improvements today based on Autumn's feedback.

A few more changes are still in the works.  All of this will be released with v3.0.

We just switch our contribution system over to Rock this week as well but have found it to actually save us time. Without knowing how you're setup i'm not sure I can offer you much in the way of shortcuts..

Are you using the online giving setup with Rock? My understanding is this information is pulled in automatically.

Did you scan the checks into the system and use tithe envelopes for the cash? One of the strong points for Rock is the ability for multiple people to log in and match the transactions at the same time. To save time our counting team wrote the Accounts the checks were designated to on the memo lines for the checks (ex. Gen Fund $50 Missions $30).

I'm working on a dashboard style page right now that will help with error checking if we find the totals in Rock do not match the counting team's numbers. Rock is flexable, back up your database and don't be afraid to try different methods of loading contributions.

    Hope this helps!

I'm looking for the same shortcuts.  We are looking to purchase a check scanner to help, but are currently entering the weekend offering manually.  There seems to be a lot of mouse use in order to save the current transaction or scroll down to the bottom of the screen to add the next one.  Also, it would be nice to enter the date once and have it remembered for the next transaction.
