0 Received weekly newsletter email multiple times 1 Kelley Langkamp posted 9 Years Ago We just sent our weekly email newsletter through Rock for the first time. We have a dataview set up to get all the adult who are members, attenders, or visitors who's first visit was after 10/1/2010. For some reason, I personally got 3 copies of the email. I checked in Rock and no one else has my email address listed as theirs. The email itself is only listed once in communication history. I need to get this fixed ASAP. Most of our staff and leadership got multiple copies for some reason too. Our dataview shows the following for the filter: ( In group of group type: Family, with role(s): Adult AND Connection Status is 'Member' or 'Attendee' ) OR ( In group of group type: Family, with role(s): Adult AND Connection Status is 'Visitor' AND First Visit Greater Than Or Equal To '10/1/2010' )
Kelley Langkamp 9 years ago It sounds exactly like our circumstances except we all got 3 copies. The email was sent by me (Rock admin). The dataview returned 8044 people though not all had email addresses in Rock.I am running 3.4
Kelley Langkamp 9 years ago I haven't had to send another email to anywhere near that number of recipients since. I think there is one going out later today so I should know then.
Kelley Langkamp 9 years ago I just sent another email with the setting send when approved to off. Now the email isn't going out. The job to send communications has run 3 times since I sent the email and it hasn't sent. It is still listed as pending in communication history and there isn't any sign of the outgoing messages in Mandrill.
Kelley Langkamp 9 years ago The email did eventually start sending. At the rate it is sending, it is going to take hours to complete. The later you are in the send job, the more emails you seem to get.
David Leigh 9 years ago Check the Settings of the "Send Communications" Job. The delay before sending is caused by the "Delay Period" setting, which applies because the emails are no longer automatically sent on approval.The duplicates are most likely caused by multiple send jobs operating on the same batch of emails. You can test this by setting the schedule of the job to only run once every hour, and see if this reduces or eliminates the duplicates. My guess is that this might be a bug, because the emails processed in a batch might not be marked as sent until the entire batch is complete.
Kelley Langkamp 9 years ago Rock takes a little over 3 hours to completely send our weekly email so I've had to set the job to only run every 4 hours to eliminate the duplicates. Should I open a new bug on github or is there a way to re-open that bug?
