From Data to Discipleship: Leveraging Income Insights for Ministry Growth Published Dec 4, 2024 Ready to Level Up Your Giving Reports? There’s a new table in town. More accurately, there’s been a table lurking in your database for the last 9 months that you probably haven’t seen. Let’s bring this table into the spotlight to explore how it can help your church make better data-driven decisions (and maybe even help a few people along in their spiritual journeys). In version 16.3, we introduced an all new table called AnalyticsSourcePostalCode. If you were at RX24 or have watched the Product Keynote, you’ve probably heard that v17 will include some brand new giving reports. This table plays a crucial role in powering these reports, offering insights into zip code-level data such as income buckets and average income. If you have updated to 16.3 or later, you can check all of the available data in the table yourself. Let’s straighten one thing out: this table is not here so you can shake down every attendee that is giving less than 10% of the average income of their zip code. We’ll leave that to the local mob bosses and posse of 3rd graders on bikes. Rather, the goal of this table is to empower your church to meet people where they are, understand their context, and help them grow spiritually. For instance, this table might give you a broader understanding of a community’s financial landscape or highlight trends that help inform your ministry strategies. Having access to all of this data comes with great responsibility and so it is important to maintain the correct heart posture. The last thing that we want to do is use these tools to cast judgement or pressure people to give. We should be using data to help us see how God is working in people’s lives and be encouraging them to take a leap of faith by tithing regularly. We hope that the AnalyticsSourcePostalCode helps you accomplish this!
