Mandrill and MailChimp Merge. Now What? Published Feb 26, 2016 All good things must come to an end, or so we've all heard. And apparently MailChimp subscribes to that theory, as well. As the original developers of Mandrill, the email plug-in currently built into Rock, MailChimp has just announced a change that could affect a lot of us. As of March 16, Mandrill will only be offered as an add-on to a paid MailChimp account. All current Mandrill account holders will have until late April to merge these accounts before they are out of compliance. We get it. Business models have to change sometimes, and what used to be free can't always stay that way. However, the tight timeframe to pull off this conversion seems to be a bit light on customer service, which is disappointing. Since we're all in this together and we want to keep things as simple as possible for you, we are researching other low-cost solutions. We plan to write a new patch and have it available to you in 4.4 so you can stay in compliance with the MailChimp/Mandrill new regulations. You can look for that update within the next week or two. What will the solution look like? Well, we've been down this road before, and started with a Mailgun integration early on. It looks like we may circle back again, but you'll want to check out a few good solutions that could also include SendGrid, among other providers. Just know that we are giving this announcement our attention and are actively working to provide a solution. Stay tuned for updates as the core team and the Rock community works magic together to make this just a small blip in the road to email success.
