Online New Believer Process Published Apr 15, 2020 Moving services online hasn’t changed the mission of bringing people into relationship with Jesus. Knowing this, Jim Gearries and the team at Emmanuel Church in Greenwood, Indiana, utilized Rock’s text-to-workflow tools to create a digital method for connecting with new believers. "The idea of asking new believers to send a text was a little scary," Jim said, "because this process removes the immediate face-to-face interaction with someone who just made the decision to trust in Jesus. We decided to try it because we wanted to make it easier for those who may be apprehensive to interact with someone else. By removing that potential obstacle, we’ve actually found that more people profess their decision." Jim and his team released the new process to their members, unsure of how it would be received. "On the New Believer questionnaire, we give people the opportunity to request an interaction with their campus pastor," Jim continued, and many of them take advantage of this. The campus pastors love it, because they know their time is well spent with someone who wants to take a next step." Using text-to-workflow in this way has resulted in a major response from the Emmanuel Church community, and made connecting with new believers easier during this digital-only season. "In short," Jim said, "our staff loves this option." For more details about Emmanuel’s process, check out their full recipe here.
