Ability to Add Related Item in Content Channel Item While Editing an Item

If you look at the Content Channel Messages, try to edit it and at the bottom there is a block/panel tab Parent Items, click on it. There is no way to add the parent item of the item you are currently editing. Why? You have to close it and go to the Message Series and add the message as related item. Why is that extra step necessary?

Would be nice to add this feature or make it as option that can be enabled if desired or needed.
