The Problem

Currently, the Group Attendance Detail block can only display active members during check-in. This block is on the core Rock file system.

Because this check-in only can show active members, checking in someone returning to the group can be challenging.

For example, let's say you have a high school leader (Sam) who is taking attendance of a high school group every week. Sam, the group leader, has a group of girls who come in weekly. Unfortunately, a few girls in Sam's group have a season of life where they can't make it to small group. Because of this, these few girls become inactive. Sam's group invites the girls who missed small group for some time, and the girls return to small group. When Sam goes to take attendance, the inactive girls are unable to show up on the list, so Sam now has to add a note in check-in when she submits the roster for that day. This means a staff member has to go in and flip these girls to active and take numerous extra steps that could have been automated if inactive students could show on the roster.

The solution

Add a toggle option in the Group Attendance Detail Block to allow leaders to toggle "show inactive members." This would enable leaders to see the inactive members in the list with current active members during check-in and select them as attended if they have returned. This will allow workflows to be leveraged even more in the overall block.
