Sidebar Hover vs Click (hold vs toggle)

Currently, in the desktop version of the Internal Site, the sidebar is a mouse-hover.

On the other hand, in the mobile version of the Internal Site, the sidebar can be toggled (by tapping on the icon).

I would like the option of having a similar behavior on the desktop version, where clicking on one of the icons persists the menu items.

This would allow for our users to quickly navigate the Internal Site's pages without needing to be careful about the mouse-hover.
