Multi-Channel Small Group Communication

Multi-Channel Small Group Communication

Group

Most people today like conversing with others/groups on their time, through channels they're comfortable with. Examples are email, text (SMS), and Facebook Messenger. A prior CMS I used had the capability for small group leaders to start a communication thread on the CMS site with those in their group and the following would happen:

  • The message would start a thread on the "group feed" for all members to see and reply to
  • An email notification of the message would automatically be sent to all group members
    • Members could click a link in the email directing them to the site and the specific group feed to interact with
    • Or they could simply reply to the email and it would automatically  post to the thread on the site and email all group members

To expand on the above, could consider adding the following:

  • Allow message author (e.g. Leader) to select any/all channels (e.g. group feed, email, SMS, social media, etc) to automatically cascade and continue conversation

This would enable group members to communicate on their preferred time and in their preferred channels, which helps further ministry by creating an environment of consistent connection.
