Date to turn off Allow External Updates to Saved Registrations

I would love to see an option added to the event registration template that says "How many days before your event should Allow External Updates to Saved Registrations be turned off?" This would allow us, for example, to allow parents to make changes to their child's camp registration (cabin preference, allergies) up to a certain point, but not after admins have downloaded the data and made cabin assignments.
