Add a Filter Function to Timeline Block Allowing to Select Note Types

19.0 CRM Complete

The Timeline Block on a Person profile displays many different note types ranging from short automated indications of event registration to more detailed notes written by our staff as they interact with people.

We would like to see a filter option on the timeline block, allowing the user to select a single note type to view.

Our organization has created some different note types customized for different teams as they record their touch points and interactions as part of their ministry. As has already been mentioned in other Idea suggestions, when someone has a long recorded history the timeline block can become quite long requiring the user to do a lot of scrolling when looking for specific information. A filter option would allow staff members to more easily sort through and review information left in the notes field relevant to their area of ministry.

The timeline block already allows for the displayed Note Types to be reduced and customized in the block settings. A filter function would allow people to filter on that same basis without accessing the block settings and changing the view for all other users.

This filter function would provide a substantial improvement for users trying to find and review specific notes or see the history of engagement through event registration or another custom note type. Team members would have an easier time finding their own previous notes, or notes left by another team member on the same ministry team. Consequently their future conversations could be more informed and personalized. The filter would prevent important information being missed or lost in what can be an overwhelming list of notes and save our team members the time and potential frustration of wading through the notes looking for specific information.
