Add “Send Test” Option to Pending Communications Approval Page

Communication

Concise Description

It would be helpful if it was possible to add a “Send Test” button to the pending communication approval page so approvers can send themselves a test version of the message without needing to open the communication in edit mode and step through the full communication creation process.

Additional Details

Currently, when a communication reaches the approval stage, the approver only has the options to Approve, Deny, Edit, or Cancel. If they want to send a test to verify formatting, links, dynamic content, or dashboard rendering, they must click Edit and step through the entire communication setup process before accessing the Send Test option—even when no edits are needed.

This idea proposes adding a “Send Test” button directly on the approval screen that allows the approver to send a test message (email or SMS) to themselves or a specified address/number.

This would provide a quick way to verify the communication before approving large-scale messages without requiring the approver to go through the full communication setup process.

Here is the page I am referring to where it would be nice to add this option.

Thorough Ministry Need Review

Communications sent through Rock often reach large audiences, making accuracy critical. Approvers are responsible not only for reviewing the content but also ensuring the recipient experience is correct, including formatting, links, and dynamic elements such as dashboards or merge fields.

Sending a test message is often the final step to confirm everything appears correctly. Without the ability to send a test directly from the approval page, approvers must go through the entire communication setup process just to access the test function, which slows approvals and adds unnecessary steps to what should be a quick verification..

The Why

This feature improves efficiency and confidence in the communication approval process. Approvers are responsible for safeguarding messages sent to potentially hundreds or thousands of recipients, and a quick Send Test option allows them to verify the final experience without stepping through the entire communication setup process. This helps ensure clear, reliable ministry communication by reducing the risk of formatting issues, broken links, or incorrect rendering reaching recipients while making approvals faster and more intuitive.
