Add “Select All Areas Automatically” Option to NextGen Check-in

Check-in

In Legacy Check-in, there is an option that automatically selects all Areas (Group Types) a person is eligible to check in to and skips the Area selection screen altogether. This allows organizations to keep Group Types hidden from end users and present only the groups they can actually check in to.

For many churches, Group Types are an internal organizational structure and are not intended to be visible to the public. In our environment, displaying Areas creates unnecessary confusion because attendees often don't know which Group Type contains the group they are looking for. What they do know is the specific class, room, or ministry they need to check in to.

We use generic kiosks across multiple campuses where any attendee can check in from any kiosk. To support this workflow, we need the ability to automatically select all eligible Areas and take the user directly to the group selection screen.

Requested Enhancement: Add a "Select All Areas Automatically" setting to the Obsidian Check-in Kiosk block that functions similarly to the Legacy Check-in option. When enabled:

  • All eligible Areas are automatically selected.
  • The Area/Group Type selection screen is skipped.
  • Users are taken directly to the list of available groups.
  • Group Types remain hidden from end users.

This feature is critical for organizations that use shared kiosks and want to provide the simplest possible check-in experience. It is also a significant adoption blocker for our migration to v21 NextGen Check-in, as we cannot replicate our current Legacy Check-in workflow without it.
