The Rock RMS Developer plays a vital role in supporting the mission of our church through the effective configuration, maintenance, and advancement of our Rock RMS platform. This individual will serve as the primary point of contact for managing church database operations, building and supporting event registrations, workflows, website content updates, and providing training and technical support for staff and volunteers. The Rock RMS Developer ensures that the system functions efficiently, securely, and in alignment with the church’s ministry goals.

  1. Experience and Knowledge Required:

    • Minimum 2 years of experience working with Rock RMS

    • Strong understanding of relational databases, user permissions, workflows, and reporting tools

    • Knowledge of HTML, CSS, C#, .NET, Lava, JavaScript, SQL, JAVA is a plus

    • Knowledge of web analytics and SEO is a plus

    • Proven ability to translate ministry needs into digital solutions

    • Strong communication skills and ability to train and support non-technical users

    • Experience working in a church or ministry context is preferred

  2. Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

    • Weekly Responsibilities

      Rock RMS Administration & Configuration

  • Maintain and configure Rock RMS modules, including people records, groups, check-in, dashboards, communications, and registrations

  • Create and manage workflows, forms, surveys, and automation processes to improve ministry efficiency

  • Manage permissions and security settings for staff and volunteer users

  • Ensure timely updates, backups, and system reliability

Data Management

  • Maintain data integrity and cleanliness across all Rock RMS modules

  • Create and distribute custom reports and dashboards to support ministry decision-making

  • Monitor for and resolve duplicate records and data inconsistencies

Event & Registration Management

  • Build and manage registration forms and event processes, including payments, communications, and attendance tracking

  • Collaborate with ministry leaders to understand event needs and deliver functional digital solutions

Website & Communication Support

  • In conjunction with our marketing team, build out new webpages and make updates to website content through Rock’s CMS as requested by the marketing and ministry teams

  • In conjunction with our communication team, design and schedule email and SMS communications and templates for church-wide messaging.

Training & Support

  • Provide ongoing support for staff and volunteers using Rock RMS features

  • Conduct training for new users and assist with onboarding processes

  • Develop user guides and documentation for common tasks and processes

Strategic Development

  • Stay current with Rock RMS community updates, plugins, and best practices

  • Recommend and implement enhancements to improve staff workflows and system usability

  • Collaborate with IT or outside developers on more advanced customizations or integrations

  • Sunday Responsibilities

  • Perform routine checks on all IT systems before services begin to ensure everything is functioning properly

  • Provide real-time technical support during church services, which may include troubleshooting volunteer and kid check-in, badge printers, iPads, and any software used during the service

  • Help congregation members with any technical difficulties they may encounter with church-related apps or websites

  • Be on standby for any unforeseen technical issues that arise during church services

  • Other Responsibilities

  • Assist with planning, implementation, and technical support for special events scheduled throughout the year

  • Help with the setup and breakdown of any additional technical equipment needed for special events or services

  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of IT
