Editing the Rock API

Is the Rock API (the rest API) editable? We are trying to integrate Rock with our current system through its API, but would like to make sure that one of clients (churches that use both our software as well as RockRMS) does not change a functionality that we are relying upon in the API.

I think some clarification is needed here to enable us to answer your question.
Which API are you referring to? The .NET libraries or the REST API?
Also, what clients are you referring to? Are you talking about consumer applications that reference the API, and if so how would they be able to change it?
