SMS for other providers?

I would like to use Rock to send and receive sms from our church's VOIP, Voxtelesys. They offer a messaging API but I'm beyond my depth. Are there tutorials or anyone who has done this who could share how they accomplished it?

Alternatively, how likely is that someone without programming experience would be able to modify the twilio code to fit another provider? I'm guessing that's a long shot.
