0 Family Manager 11 Aaron Hackett posted 8 Years Ago the Family Manager iPad app asks for a rock authorization key. Where would I find this
Jay Greentree 8 years ago I'm working on an unoficial documentation for this process as I'm typing this.
Jay Greentree 8 years ago Unfortunately after chatting with one of the devs its not supported at the moment. Support is planned for later this year.
Aaron Hackett 8 years ago I mentioned this bellow... But just so it's in the answer section. Adding the rest key to the rock admin security role worked perfect.
Jay Greentree 8 years ago You have to create the key first and name it something like Family Manager or whatever. Once you generate it you would need to go to Security > Security Roles and look for the Rock Administration group. It will have a search box that opens and you can time Fam and it should find the Family Manager account. Click the button after that and it should work
Aaron Hackett 8 years ago Hey Derek, Inside Admin Tools visit Security and then Security Roles. Inside Security Roles look for RSR - Rock Administration. Then Click the orange Edit button. Once there click on Member Attributes. Click the + button to add an attribute. I named mine Rock Family App, then I added my REST Key under Key. Save it and you should be good to go.Once in the iPad app I noticed that the user created by the Family Manager app did not work. I ended up using the admin. Probably not the best way. But it worked for me for now since I'm just testing it out .
Derek Dalton 8 years ago I just stick the REST key in the Key section under Categories in the Group Member Attributes, right? And do I need to set a specific Field Type?
Jay Greentree 8 years ago Derek No once you have generated the key you only have to add it to the Rock administration role. Nothing else to configure for the REST Key
Ross Li 8 years ago Thanks Jim. Does it also mean that the Rock Check-In app on iOS is dead? The browser version of the check-in works great for our children ministry but for our youth we are trying to make things a bit more flexible. The biggest need they have is the ability to have the teens to be able to register themselves if they are new, and be able to take a picture using the ipad during registration. The next time they come they will be checking themselves in on another ipad, and no labels are needed for the youth.
Jim Michael 8 years ago Ross- No, the check-in iPad app is not dead, and functions great. However, it does not (and never did) provide the functions you mention (adding people and taking pictures). The check-in app simply allows people to check-in (in reality it just wraps the browser UI and adds direct printing functionality.) The app would need to be extended/enhanced to add the functions you are asking for. As always, make your requests known at http://www.rockrms.com/Rock/Ideas There's no guarantee an idea will be implemented, but it puts it on the core team's radar, at least.
