Weekly Attendance Without Check-In

Is there anywhere in Rock where we can track adult Sunday service attendance without using Check-In? We currently just do a head count so that we have the number for attendance trends analysis don't see that we will require check-in for adults in the near future.

Is there a way to enter these attendance numbers into Rock so that we can run reports or dataviews with them?

Thanks!

If you simply want to track head counts, a Metric might be your best bet. You can create a manual metric where you simply enter the attendance number each week. You aren't able to run dataviews or reports against this data, but it's summarized data anyway so there's not much to report on other than the date and headcount, which is exactly what a metric will give you.

Thanks Jim, I think this will work well for us. Thinking ahead with a metric dashboard. Say if we want to be able to view a line chart of total adult attendance, and also a break down of how attendance per service times. Do I have to create a manual metric for each service time and an additional one for the full day, or is there a way for a metric to be a sum of other metrics?

That's a good question, and the answer is "I really don't know" ;-) Metrics have the concept of a "series partition", but I don't think Schedule Time is an option there. Thinking out loud, it might also be possible to create the manual metrics for each service time, then create a SQL-based metric that pulls in the data from the other metrics. Hopefully someone who knows more than I about this can jump in with other suggestions or corrections.

Ross, watch the Rock Shop in the next week- one of the devs has come up with a great way of doing what you're looking for, and it understands service times. There's been a lot of discussion around this topic recently in Slack- some people have hacked metrics to work for them, others are using workflows instead, and there ARE some improvements to metrics coming in future updates. But perhaps this plugin will meet most of our needs... =)
