Alternate or secondary email address

We understand the use of one email address and the importance of that being a unique identifier to a person, but often times a congregant provides us their Work email for quicker response yet when they transition out of their job we loose contact with them. For phone numbers Rock provides three fields, Work, Home, and Mobile. Is there a reason why we should not have Home email and Work email addresses on a person's profile?

Is there a way to add fields to the Contact Information block?

I can't speak to the design decision of why there's only one email, but there's currently no way to add more, other than doing your own (major) modifications. One possible (but not ideal) solution is to use a person attribute to store additional emails, but there's no easy way to expose this to the user when they are creating an account., so it would really only be useful for internal use.

I personally don't mind the single email vs our prior system which allows any number of them, which had become a problem over time... (Why am I getting this email from you at THIS address?! Uh, because you entered it when signing up for x event and it added it to your account...?) Also, for us having an email bounce creates a touch point where agroup leader or whomever can reach out to the person and ask for a new email.

We added a "Secondary Email" attribute to a person's profile, so if they did provide a second email (and the first one bounces) there's a fall-back communication option.  I can second Jim's experience with sending 3+ emails to the same person accidentally (because they had all their email fields filled out).
