Emailing parents of elementary school kids only

Hello!


Does anyone know how to email the parents of children's ministry or does the parent's email need to be in the child's profile?

    You would use a dataview for this. Just create a dataview that returns the kids you want (filter on age, or grade, or whatever), then ALSO select the "Post filter transformation" drop down at the top of the dataview (in edit mode) and select Parents. That will give you a grid of the parents of all kids in the dataview, and you can simply email from the button on the bottom of the grid.

    And alternative would be to use Attendance Analytics to again filter on the age or grade and date range, then click Parents of Attendees to get the parents, and again email from the resulting grid.

    Thank you Jim! Also would you know why a child was promoted to the next grade if we didnt do it? Is there a date that is set on the system to automatically promote them to the next group?

      Yes, under Admin | Global Attributes there is a Grade Transition Date that you're supposed to set to the data you want kids to "graduate." It think the default is 6/1. You should probably thoroughly read the Rock check-in and Admin guides if you haven't done so, as lots of tidbits like that are in there.
