Using Amazon Web Services for external hosting

I'm interested in whether there's a another organization or church using AWS to host Rock RMS, and also, whether said installation uses EC2 and RDS, or a single-server installation for both database and web server.

I'm not aware of anyone running Rock on AWS, but assuming you can run a full-blown Windows server with IIS and SQL server, there's no reason it shouldn't work. Many run Rock on Azure, due to the $5000/yr free credit 501c3 organizations can get for that platform. Rock also recently announced a new turn-key hosting solution that caters to Rock, called portal.

As for running the web server and db on the same VM, this violates PCI compliance (which is important assuming you're going to take online payments for giving and/or event registrations) but there's no technical reason it doesn't work.
