Are you asking about how to have a child in both families? If so, click on the edit family (the pencil icon in the family bar) and then click "Add Person". In the Add Person block, click on "Add Existing Person". Below the person picker UNCHECK the "Remove Person From Other Families" box. This will add the person to the new family and leave them in the old one as well.
