Does/Will RockRMS have the ability to produce physically printed documents?

Our church needs the ability to produce hard copies of the information in Rock.

Having the reports and data available immediatly through Rock has numerous advantages but we still need the ability to print:

- database merged letters for mailings

- envelopes

- hard copies of the church directory

- end of the year contribution reports (and their respective envelopes)

- paper attendance rosters (for the information to be logged in later)

Does rock currently or plan to support these features? From what i've seen Rock looks isolated to just email when it comes to "mass mailings".

Thank you in advance for your time!

Edit: This is the closest issue I could find on github, but its a problem with exporting for a mailing. Not natively merging the data so its printable.

Just jumping in to confirm that merge docs and label printing are indeed coming. They haven't been assigned to a specific release yet as we are still finalizing some details surrounding its implementation. It has though already received a lot of thought.

    Hey there,

This is a great question and is something that if integrated into Rock would be really awesome. At the moment you have the ability to export to .csv for traditional mail merges.

EDIT: There is a Github issue about this open if you are able to contribute code.

Arran, thank you for your response. It is possible that templates for all of these could be produced in somthing like Microsoft word and then merged for a printing. However, for somthing like an end of the year contribution report its less clear to me whether or not this could work. This also adds a large learning curve to new users (especially volunteers).

If html documents are already being produced for emails, I find it hard to believe that it wouldn't be possible to provide an option that generates the html document on a screen just for printing. This way you can use all the same calls to the database that are already being used, and the html documents can be built just like the emails using standard demensions to define the document's length and width.

Theory aside I think that the ability to perform a mailing from church management software is a pretty standard/expected feature.

    Hi Cody,

You will be pleased to know there is an app you can download to generate giving statements.  Look no futher than Admin > Power Tools > External Apps > Rock Statement Generator.  :-)

    I hope that helps!

    Cody-

Rock has the ability to print contribution statements, which you can read about in the Rock Solid Finances guide. Regarding other types of reports needing printing, I have asked for the same. I would like to see another button (next to the excel export) on data grids that just renders the results as nicely-formatted HTML for easy printing. If you think this is a worthy idea, make your wishes known here.

That said, another potential option for generating your own "printable" reports is the dynamic data block. You can place that on a page, give it a query (or a data view) as the source, then use Liquid syntax to do the layout of the results. Not trivial, but certainly possible, and the reports would end up looking the way you specifically need them.

    Hope that helps.
