How could I search by person attribute ?

Hi , I have question . how could I search by person attribute ? I have created custom person person attribute and make it searchable but it does not work > no result when I am trying to search with the keyword in this attribute , so any ideas can help me.. thanks

    I will create a dataview and use the person attribute as the criteria to search by ( you can also set the attribute value in the criteria) and then create a report to show the attribute with the person. I am unsure how to search for a specific attribute any other way.
