Will we need to reset our data after beta?

Will we be able to keep our current data after beta?  Or it is possible/probable that we will need to reset our databases back to scratch and start again?

Will any releases from now on also include scripts to update / modify our existing data schemas?

I'm asking so that I know whether or not I need to documentation the different codes and attributes I might need to (re) set up.

    Hi Ken,

The ideal is that updates and patches will work from Beta-forward, meaning you will be in good shape.  The problem is that it's difficult to guarantee that everything will work that way.  With that in mind, I recommend getting a good backup of your database and Rock App (the folder in IIS) before each update.  Keeping notes on your attributes wouldn't hurt.

    I hope that helps,

They also addressed this in an early podcast (if you haven't listened to the podcasts, do it! Lots of good info in there) and the gist is that they have the intention of a seemless upgrade from beta to 1.0 while keeping your data in tact, and even mention a "worst case" of creating some sort of export/import if for some reason the db changes too much for unforseen reasons. But as Jeremy says, there are no guarantees so documenting everything you're doing as you go is definitely prudent (and a good practice, anyway.) :-)
