Using Mapping

Reading through the docs I don't think I've seen this touched on. Is it possible using Rock to see where a set of people (a group, a data view, etc.) live?

While we have some mapping features we do have a way to go before we have everything we'd like. For a specific group you can click the 'Interactive Map' icon show in this section (http://www.rockrms.com/Rock/BookContent/7#groupviewer) which was Frank's point. You might also checkout the 'GroupTypeMap' block type. If you add this to a page it will map all of the groups of a specific group type (smaller organizations can use this to map all families). We are working on some update documentation in the group block area also that covers some of this.

I think though that you're also wanting more. Like the ability to map the results of a dataview. We have thought of that, but we probably won't be able to get to that until clearing the plate a bit with features like event registration. Hopefully some of the exisiting functionality can wet your appetite in the meantime.

Thanks for the answer, It's great to hear that you have some of these features as planned enhancements. I'll definitely check out the GroupTypeMap block.
Regarding mapping groups, is it possible to map all the individuals in a group as opposed to just the group's location?

What I've done to see this (I hope there is any easier way) is create a named location that is a geofence.  Then create a small group where the meeting location is set to that named location.  Then from the group viewer page, you can click on the map of the meeting location, which gives you a page with a Group Map block.  Here you can show the people with verfied addresses inside of the named location.

Hope this helps, or at least prompts someone to provide an easier way to do this!  I tried to just create a page with the Group map block, but it seems to need a group id along with it to work correctly.
