Security for users adding and deleting tags from church members

Hi, does anyone know what the best security profile is to use for non-staff users who are responsible for adding/deleting tags from members? I have tried the “Staff Like Users” and “Staff Users profiles and neither of these work for deleting the tags from other members.

:-) Got it. That is what I will do, as we do not have that many people in that group. I could create a new security group, too, right?

Definitely. You could create a new security group and give just those people edit rights.

Hi Jeremy, it looks like the "Staff Users" and "Staff-like Users" already have edit abililty on that block. I will have to test these again, but I am pretty sure that "Staff-Like Users" could not remove those.

Yes my testing shows the these security groups have edit capability, but cannot delete tags. They can only add tags. Does that sound right?

Hi Don,

It looks like the Person Bio block that's on every person record page has a Tag section integrated into it. You could give a specific security group (Staff-Like Users, for example) Edit rights to the whole block but then they'd be able to change a lot more than just Tags.

Instead, you might want to add a Tags block somewhere on the page (setting Entity Type to Person) and secure just that block so only certain security groups can see and edit it.

Thanks Jeremy. Are the instructions for doing this in one of the manuals? Also, if I add a tags block, would that mean that the tags would show twice?

This isn't something that's in the documentation but I can send you more specific instructions if you'd like. If you added the Tags block it would show up twice.

If you think that this is the best way to handle this, then yes please send. We would like staff like users and above to be able to remove the tags.

Well, the simplest way to handle this would be to give the security group in question edit rights to the Bio block. If you're not comfortable with that, the Tag block is the best way to go.

Jeremy, I created a new security role and added it to the bio page and block as administrator; and still cannot delete tags unless I'm a full admin. Any ideas why that is?

I'm seeing the same thing, even on version 3.1. This seems to be a bug that should be reported on Github.
