3essentials backup does not backup stored procs, views or triggers

3essentials Windows backup instructions includes this comment:

Important: Plesk does not back up stored procedures, views, and triggers. The backup utility ignores them and, therefore, they cannot be restored.

Is this an issue for Rock databases?

    Maybe. 

    If you find yourself adding any SPROCs, Triggers, or Views to your RockRMS database then the answer becomes "yes" quickly.  If you stick to core, maybe not.  In either case you will want to test (and test again) the restore to ensure that a restore will work after a fresh install of RockRMS.

    If it were me, I'd consider a solution that performs a comprehensive backup for one reason: when that fateful date arrives when a restore is necessary - and it will come :-) - you don't want to do any more thinking than necessary to get it done.  Keep it simple for yourself and/or your successor. ;-)

      Thanks Jeremy. I'm actually asking if Rock DOES use stored procedures, views or triggers. My understanding is that it does use stored procs, and I assume triggers. Not sure about views. So, unless I've missed something, this is a potential issue for every 3essentials Rock user relying on the standard Plesk backup?

        Rock does.
        But getting those bits from a clean RockRMS install is relatively easy... so restoring them is practical.


        Custom stuff probably will add them as well. Which probably complicates the restore much much more.


        Are there no options other than 3essentials at your disposal?

          It seems to me that the 3essentials backup does backup Rock's functions and procedures. But it does not back up foreign keys (and one other type of key - primary?). I'll do more testing...

            Sorry - I correct myself: the 3essentials COPY database command did not copy the foreign keys, not the backup... My mistake. But still odd to me. Haven't tested the backup and restore yet.
