Adult Attendance Tracking

OK folks, this shouldn't be this hard. We are a new, small church, and we want to keep track of who shows up each week. I've searched through the manuals and the forums. Can someone please tell me how to do the following:

1. The Jones family and Smith family come to church on Sunday and we want to record their attendance (without requiring them to check in at a kiosk).

2. We make note of their attendance manually to be recorded in Rock later.

3. On Monday, our administrator records the adult attendance for the week (prefereably by checking some boxes next to each person in attendance).

This seems like a basic function that a lot of churches would want (and that other church management systems have), but I don't see a way to do it in Rock. Is there a basic attendence recording functionality for a group?

Another scenario would be to keep track of who attends a home group (again without requiring them to check in). The group leader could simply go to Rock after the group was over and check the boxes by everyone who checked in.

Maybe the functionality is in there and I'm missing it, but trying to use the (somewhat overengineered) check-in system to accomplish this is frustrating beyond belief. Please help.

At the moment, Check-in is only done through the apps or through the web interface. It may be possible for you to allow check-in to extend or be open for another day and have your administrator add people by going through the app or web interface--you would have to configure your scheduling respectively and you will need the attendee's phone numbers as well.

Small groups that meet throughout the week are not able to take attendance through a group management interface like you are thinking. The Core Team does plan to come out with this but it may be a few months. You can take attendance for small groups but the only way is through the check-in app or web and the scheduling would need to be configured accordingly, similar to above.

    Adam,

This is something the administrative staff at my church has also expressed they would like to see. Right now I don't believe this functionality is available but it should be part of the "group toolbox" coming around February 2015. https://trello.com/c/VeGQv6u5

The Rock development team has been amazing so far at getting these much needed things built and working.

I have the same question several years later. Is there a good answer now?

If you setup a single group that contains "everyone", it's possible to mark the members as attended for any specific date.

Something could also be done based on cash/check giving, since it's pretty reasonable for cash and checks to identify people who are on-campus... as opposed to credit card, unless done at a kiosk.

If funds permit, something could be setup using Wifi Presence - but this requires a Wifi system and the FrontPorch functionality - nontrivial cost and setup.

Doable using a group leader toolbox... we send an email to our group leader(s) with a link back to take attendance.  Was easier to setup this system than to convince groups leaders to follow through, but this is not so much a technical issue. ;-)

    I hope that helps,
