Childrens Check-in

I have children that are part of a family that are NOT showing up for check-in.  Granted they do have a different last name, but should ALL of the children in a family should showup for checkin, right.

I was also wondering if the father and mother having 2 different phone numbers (Cell phone) would mess up check in, or should the child be able to be checked in using either phone munber.

Thanks!

When I use the Test Check-in setup, this child appears and is able to be checked in. I'm not sure I understand...

Yes, and sorry I made a mistake. The child that is not showing up, has the same last name as the parents. They have tow others that have different last names. Not sure why he is showing in the test check-in environment and not the live one. I'm not even sure that there is anything I can do in the Check-in setup to make this happen, right?

I do have one family that the child has a different last name than the parents, he shows on both parent profiles, but done not show for check-in. I think that is one issue. I think the other may have to do with the 3 year old, as I have found two 3 year olds that are not showing up for check-in.

As always, this gets a big fat "it depends"

It could be that your live environment doesn't have an age bracket that the child fits into whereas the test environment does. Check the child's age and grade (and skill level, if appropriate) and then get into your checkin configuration and carefully look at the criterion for the age group they should fit into. In my estimation it's more likely to be that the checkin system doesn't think there's an event for their age/grade, than the likelihood there's an issue with them not being considered to be in the correct family.

For instance, perhaps the child is way ahead in school and is already a middle schooler even though they're 9. I believe that would effectively keep that child from being able to be checked in with most setups because even though you have a group accepting 3-5th graders from ages 6-13 and a group accepting middle schoolers (grades 6-8) from ages 12-15, this child doesn't fit into either of those groups, so they don't fit ANY group and are therefore not eligible to check-in since there's no group to check them in "to".

If you can't spot the problem in your setup, try changing your setup to use only grades or only ages- making sure there aren't any ages/grades omitted- and see if that resolves the case of the vanishing child. =)

Just saw your second paragraph. If 3-year olds are a common thread, be sure to check and make sure you have a check-in group set up to accept 3-year olds (that is, through age 3.99). Don't have a group for 0-3 and then 4-5 (for instance) because that leaves all the 3.01 to 3.99 year olds with nowhere to check in to. Instead set the groups up for 0-4 and 4-5 (in this example)

I have a check-in area that has two sub areas with different age ranges.  2-3 & 4-5.  Is this the correct way to do it?  We have it this way, because one area is checking in 2 different class rooms with different age ranges.

Expand those age groups, if you would, so we can see how they're set up. My guess is you need to change the age definitions on "Ages 2-3" to 2 to 3.99 and on "Ages 4-5" to 4 to 5.99. I think that if you just use a straight number the computer will take it as a decimal (3=3.00) and so a child who is 3-1/2 years old (=3.5) is larger than your age cutoff of 3 years old, but too young to check into the class for the 4 year olds yet.

Yep, try changing the age ranges to 2-4 and 4-6 . If someone checked in ON their 4th birthday with the setup I'm proposing, they might be prompted for which room to go to (since they qualify for both being exactly 4.00 years old), but that's not that big of a deal and at least they CAN check in! =)
