Possible to hide the Finance and Admin Tools tab on the sidebar for non-admin users?

Hi all, I may have missed some documentation on this as I am still trying to catch up. I wonder if it is possible to hide the Finance and Admin Tools tabs on the sidebar for users that are neither administrators or finance staff. Thanks and apologies if this was covered already.

If they don't have security privileges for those areas they shouldn't be showing up in their menu.

I use our founding pastor who is retired, 85 and never used a computer in his life, as a test account to make sure my security roles are set correctly.

Check this out for more info on security roles.

DJ Grick is spot on. And I believe the Admin menu already has appropriate settings so that non-admins do not see the menu. However I wanted to contribute a few more details to help out, based on my own experience.

Like you, we also wanted to hide the "Finance" menu from our non-finance users- which proved a challenge since some of our users are also administrators for other reasons, and administrators, by default, have access to the "Finance" section.

Our solution was to create a custom security group - I called it "Restrict from Financial". To hide the Financial menu, I added a "Deny" entry on the "View" "Edit" and "Administrate" permissions within the Financial menu itself. To do this, go to the Rock landing page. Click the "Child Pages" button in the admin bar and click the "Financial" link in the menu which appears. Once on that page, click the lock icon on the admin bar and there you can add an explicit "Deny" permission for the group.

You may want to do the same thing on the user profile "Contributions" page - doing it on one user's profile sets the permissions for that tab on all user profiles.

Once that's set, you can add anyone to the "Restrict from Financial" security group (even administrators) and poof those links disappear!
