Making Metrics Managable

Currently our leadership has a very complex Google sheet where everyone has their own sheet to enter their weekly metrics and it compiles everything on a summary sheet for our pastor. I would love to switch to Rock's metrics but will struggle to convince our other key ministry leaders to enter their data because of the number of clicks required for data that is not pulled with sql. They are accustom to entering that weeks info into a single column and moving on.

I tried looking at using workflows to create a simple form but didn't those actions built in.

How are other organizations implementing metrics for teams that need to manually enter 6+ numbers a week? For example Our youth ministry tracks

  1. HS Students
  2. MS Student
  3. First time MS
  4. First Time HS
  5. Second Time MS
  6. Second time HS
  7. Youth Leaders

We definately see the need for this. We have it as a feature to add. It hasn't made a specific release point yet, but it's possible it could be in v5.0.  Wish this could be more specific, but we should have the features in v5 firmed up soon. Hope to do a podcast after Thanksgiving on v5 and the roadmap process.

DJ - for what's its worth, we do something like this for things we don't get with Check-in (like auditroium attendance).  We have volunteers put the numbers in via a nice looking and simple MachForm (you could use FormStack or your own HTML web form as long as you can do a HTTP POST) and I wrote a Rock webhook that takes the submitted information and adds it to the Matrics table.  If you want to see that, I'd be glad to share.

Maybe I'm not understanding the question, but aren't most (if not all) of those numbers pulled out of the check-in data itself? Or are your youth not checking-in and thus the manual entry?

currently we are not using check-in for the teens. We will in the future but not yet. That was just an easy example to start with.

Our adults track 11 items based attendance and keeping in touch forms people fill out during the service. That's a lot of clicking and page loads.

Yeah, I see. Sounds like what's needed is a block that lets you define the specific metrics you're responsible for (via block properties) and then enter them all on the same screen/grid. Then each involved party gets their own custom Metric-entry page.

I love that Idea and will send it to the black book. I was thinking the same thing but wanted to see if someone else had figured anything else out.

Would a workflow entry form that then had an action that entered results for a specific metric work as well?

Bronson - I would also love to see what you've put together. Thanks so much!
