Enable Rock IQ

Rock IQ is the service behind Rock’s AI features. Turn it on and your team gets AI help right inside Rock, with no separate tool and no extra login.

Rock IQ stays switched off until your organization is set up in Spark Connected Services, the page where Rock connects to the services your organization pays for. Until that setup is done, anyone who selects the AI icon sees a message that the Rock IQ service is not enabled.

Note

Setting up Rock IQ is an administrator task. You need Rock administrator access, an account on the Spark Development Network community site, and the go-ahead to authorize charges for your organization, since Rock IQ usage is billed monthly.

Before you start

Rock IQ is one of the services in Spark Connected Services, so your organization has to be linked there with a card on file before Rock IQ can be enabled. That is a one-time setup, if you've done it once, no need to worry about doing it again. Sign in as an administrator and go to Admin Tools > Settings > Spark Connect Services.

Turn on Rock IQ

Under Services, select Enable on the Rock IQ card, then set the following. Rock IQ goes live as soon as you save.

Plan - Each plan maps Rock IQ to a different set of AI models, which sets both the quality of the results and what each request draws from your balance. Economy stretches your balance further; Standard uses stronger models for harder work. You can switch plans later from this same page.

Monthly Spend Limit - Rock IQ is prepaid, so this amount is both your starting balance and your monthly ceiling. Setting it to $500 charges the card $500 as soon as you save. If your team uses $50 over the rest of the month, the next billing cycle charges $50 to bring the balance back to $500. Usage pauses on its own once spending reaches the limit, and a change to the limit takes effect on the next cycle.

Add One-time Boost - Adds funds to your balance once, without changing your monthly spend limit. Reach for it when the limit will not carry your team to the end of the cycle and you just want to add money this one time.

You will know it worked when the AI icon in the top bar opens Rock IQ instead of the message that the service is not enabled. Your team can start using Rock’s AI features right away.

Tip

When you change your plan and Rock has not caught up yet, select the Refresh Configuration icon in the panel header on the Spark Connect Services page. Rock also refreshes this nightly on its own.
