When working with Rock pay attention to your page load time, located in the lower left-hand corner of the admin bar. Ideally the load time should be under 0.2 seconds. Keep in mind that “Page Load Time” is not an accurate measure of how long it takes to load in a browser, but it is an excellent measure of server processing time. For browser performance metrics, we suggest using the Network tab in Developer Tools or performance audits like Google Lighthouse. To see where that time goes, select the Page Load Time in the admin bar. Rock reloads the page and opens Page Debug Timings, a step-by-step list of what the server did, so you can spot the slowest block. For a full walkthrough, see Page Load Time. Speed Up a Slow Page Once you know which block is slow, caching is often the fix. Blocks like HTML Content and Content Channel View have their own cache settings, and the Lava cache command works anywhere Lava runs. Intro to Caching explains which option fits each case. If content is slow even on its first load, caching won't help, since cached content doesn't stay in the cache forever. Use a persisted dataset instead, as covered in Cache Persisted Datasets.
