    Intro to Scaling Rock

As digital ministry continues to grow, scaling your technical infrastructure becomes more and more important. Larger organizations may have unique needs to handle peak loads. The goal of this guide is to provide you with instructions and tips for scaling Rock to meet your needs.

There are two ways to grow. Scaling up adds CPU and memory to the server you already have. Scaling out adds more web servers that work together as a cluster, using Rock's Web Farm feature. A cluster adds real complexity to manage, so we recommend scaling up first. The following articles cover each option:

    • Architect a Server Cluster - Compare scaling up and scaling out, see the parts of a Rock cluster and weigh the trade-offs before you build one.
    • Configure a Rock Web Farm - Set up the message bus and turn on the Web Farm feature so several Rock web servers work together.
    • Configure Your Rock Context - Send Data Views and the analytics blocks to a separate read-only database to take load off your main database.
