    Intro to Observability

Rock's Observability feature unveils system performance insights. It tackles the challenge of spotting and resolving performance hiccups in Rock. With Observability you can track page loading speed, individual block load times, database transaction duration, and job efficiency. What's unique about Observability is that it's in tune with Rock's architecture—pages, blocks, and jobs—offering precise, relevant, actionable data.

Observability is built for the people who keep Rock running, like your IT staff or hosting partner. Turn it on when you need to find the real cause of a slow page, block or job instead of guessing.

Rock sends this data using OpenTelemetry, an open standard for sharing performance data. To collect and explore that data over time, you need an outside service that accepts OpenTelemetry. New Relic is one option and is the example used in the following articles.

    Set Up Observability

    1. Configure Observability - Point Rock at your service under Admin Tools > Settings > System Configuration.
    2. Observe Rock in New Relic - Find your traces and metrics once data starts coming in.
