Did you know you can use RFID readers for check-in? It’s a great alternative to standard barcodes. Setting up RFID works exactly like setting up a barcode—you’re simply using a different device to read the data. To work with Rock, your reader needs to support "keyboard wedge." This is just a fancy way of saying the device acts like a keyboard, typing the information it scans directly into the computer. NoteHardware CompatibilityIf your device doesn't support keyboard wedge natively, don't worry. You can use a free utility like Smartlux 232 Key to bridge the gap. This tool captures the data and sends it to the active window on your screen. How It Works Once you add an RFID tag's number as an Alternate Identifier on a person's record, you're all set. Add it the same way you add a barcode, using the steps in Use Barcode Check-in. The tag belongs to that one person. When it's scanned, Rock finds the person's family and starts check-in for everyone in it. There is no extra configuration needed. Imagine Ted Decker walking up to a kiosk with his family. He simply taps his RFID card while looking at the Welcome screen. Rock instantly matches the card to Ted's record and launches the check-in process for the Decker family. It’s that simple!
