    Intro to Benevolence

The benevolence feature allows you to track the assistance you provide to those in need. This tracking allows you to better understand who is being helped and how much help you are providing. Let’s see what's possible.

A benevolence request is the record of one person's need, such as help with rent, groceries or a utility bill, and what your organization did to meet it. Each request has a Request Type (a Benevolence Type like Housing or Food Assistance), a Request Status and the case worker it's Assigned To. A typical request moves through these steps.

    1. Add the request from Finance > Benevolence. Pick the Request Type, then select the requester's person record or enter their name and contact details.
    2. Assign a case worker and update the Request Status as the request moves along. Rock ships with Pending, Approved and Denied.
    3. Attach supporting documents, like a past-due bill, under Related Documents. Each Benevolence Type can also launch workflows when a request starts, its status changes or a case worker is assigned, or add a button that launches one manually.
    4. Record the outcome in Result Summary and Next Steps Provided. If the type has Show Financial Results turned on, also add each result with a Result Type and Amount. Rock totals these on the request list so you can see how much help you've provided.

Requests tied to a person record also show on the Benevolence tab of that person's Person Profile, as covered in View Benevolence on the Person Profile. To set up Benevolence Types and work through requests field by field, see Manage Benevolence Requests.

    Note

    Benevolence Security
The benevolence pages are secured to only allow those in the 'RSR - Benevolence' security group access to them. Be sure to add the appropriate people to this group to enable this feature.
