You can create or maintain campuses from Admin Tools > Settings > Campuses. There you'll see a list of campuses that you can manage or add to. Selecting a campus will bring up the campus details screen. NoteLocationsBefore adding a new campus, you must first add its address under Admin Tools > Settings > Named Locations. Name - Even if you only have one campus, choose a name that will still make sense if you ever expand. A simple name like "Main" or "West" typically works well.Active - As you bring new campuses online, you may want to add them as inactive until you have time to configure them and prepare for the announcement.Description - You can use this field to provide a description for your campus. This might be something you display to your website guests.Status - Sometimes there are pending campuses that are not yet open that you want to begin configuring, or which are now closed but important to keep for record-keeping. Campus statuses use the Type - You may want to easily differentiate between different types of campuses – whether Physical, Online or some other type. Campus types use the Campus Status defined type. Opened Date - The date this campus went live.Closed Date - The date this campus closed, if applicable.Code - When you grow beyond two or three sites, it's common to develop a shorter naming convention to help you refer to a campus. For example, if your campus is named “Main Campus” then you might choose “MAIN” as a short code.URL - The web address for the campus.Campus Leader - Here you can optionally indicate the person who's in charge of running the campus.Phone Number - If the campus has its own phone number, you can provide it here.Service Times - Here you can list the days and times that this campus offers services.Location - Select a Campus location. This is defined in Campus Schedules - Here you can associate Schedules directly with the campus. This can be done for reference, but also can be used by blocks like Service Metrics Entry.Campus Topics - Here you can associate an email address with a campus topic. The Topic Type is a defined value. This can be used to send notifications of Rock Campus Status & Campus Type A lot of the setup for Campuses is pretty straightforward, but there are some important points you'll want to keep in mind about the Status and Type fields. Rock ships with three Campus Status values (Closed, Open and Pending) and two Campus Type values (Physical and Online). These are ready for you to use out of the box as Defined Types. However, these values can't be deleted through Rock and shouldn't be deleted by other means. That said, how you use them is entirely up to you. If needed, you can add new values to the Defined Types lists or change the names of the existing values. NoteEven if the Type is "Online" you're still required to have a Location value. As with any campus, the Location Type assigned to the Location you choose must be "Campus". If you’re not sure what Location to use for an online campus, best practice is to choose the one most closely associated with the website. TipUpgrading Rock?If you’re upgrading Rock from an older version that doesn't have Status and Type configuration, then your existing campuses will have these values automatically assigned. Any active campus will get a Status of Open and an inactive campus will get a Status of Pending. The assigned Type will be Physical for all campuses, except Online will be assigned if the name of the campus has "online" or "on-line" in it.
