Request Filters relate to the technical characteristics of the person's visit to your site. You can use Request Filters to show content only if the person's IP address falls within a certain range, or only if certain query string parameters are present in the URL. With Request Filters, you don't need to know who the person is. To access request filters, navigate to Admin Tools > CMS Configuration > Request Filters. Name - Don't skimp on the name. A good name helps you distinguish this filter from other filters and makes its purpose clear.Key - By default, the Key will be the Name of the filter with the spaces removed. You can change the key to something else, just avoid spaces and special characters. You'll use the Key with the PersonalizationItems Lava filter, or with the Personalize command. Site - You can restrict the filter to reference a particular site. If this is left blank, then all sites will be considered.Previous Activity - This simply lets you choose if the person is new or returning. Whether the person is new or returning is determined via a cookie.Device Types - You can limit the segment to specific types of devices. For instance, you might want this segment to only apply to people visiting your site from a mobile device.Query String Filter - Request Filters can look at the query string in the URL and filter off of any parameters that are present. All you need to provide is the name of the parameter (e.g., GroupId) and the value the parameter should have (e.g., 101).Cookie - Here you can provide a Key and Value to use cookies as a filter.Browser - You can filter by the person's browser, and the version of that browser. To select any version of a browser set the filter to find versions Greater Than or Equal To 0. IP Addresses - A range of IP addresses can be provided so you can filter based on whether the IP address of the visitor is in that range. This is how we're identifying students coming to the site from the local college.Geolocation - You can filter by location in a variety of ways including country, region and postal codes. This information is based on the IP address which is automatically geocoded by Rock described in the IP Address Geocoding chapter in the Rock Admin Hero Guide. Environment - Select the days and/or the time range of the person's visit. For instance, you could target content only to people who visit the site after Sunday services.
